National History Day in South Carolina


National History Day is an educational program for students in grades 4-12.* Students research and develop topics related to an annual theme and present their conclusions in exhibits, performances, documentaries or historical papers.

* National History Day is divided into three divisions:

  • Senior Division: Grades 9-12
  • Junior Division: Grades 6-8
  • Youth Division: Grades 4-5 (offered only at the school level)

NEW! Congratulations to Joshuah Campbell, whose Sr. Individual Performance "The Legacy of Emmett Till: A Martyr for a Movement" won the African American History award at the 2009 national contest.
